Kamlah is a very interesting band that is a part of the melodic death metal genre. The members are from Finland (Oulu) and the band first appeared in 1998. Kalmah quickly began being noticed and after only a year they got a recording contract with Spinefarm Records. If you are wondering what Kalmah actually means then you should know that we are basically talking about a Karelian word that means “to the death” or “to the grave“.
We can say that Kalmah is a lot influenced by trash metal, speed metal and melodic death metal so we are faced with an interesting combination. Many fans of Kalmah are also fans of Norther and Children of Bodom, probably because of the neo-clasical heavy metal elements that are included in all of these bands. We are even faced with symphony in The Black Waltz album so we can say that Kalmah is pretty complex. We can say that The Black Waltz is probably the one album that has brought in most fans to the death metal band. (more…)
Svieri Doroga is a very interesting track from Kalmah’s The Black Waltz album (2006). I can say that it is one that is really close to me due to the fact that I find it really nice although quite short and just a guitar instrumental. Sometimes such tracks will add a lot to a death metal album. Sometimes you need a little quietness and The Black Waltz album is one that is really melodic if we compare it with other Kalmah albums before it. The Song is after the jump. (more…)
Dark Tranquility is one melodic death metal band that is quite well known around the world. The New Build is taken from the “Character” album. Hope you like it!
Eluveitie, one of the best folk metal bands in the world today. Few people would argue with this for sure. Some even belief that it is the best one, although we can not rule out bands like Ensiferum or Turisas. Inis Mona is taken from the album Slania, which was launched this year.
This video is from the album “Rise of the Tyrant“. Arch Enemy did a great job with “I Will Live Again” and there are a lot of people that simply love this track. We are among them!
Leaving aside the fact that most people that first listen to Arch Enemy do not realize that the vocal is a woman in this case, this is the video for My Apocalypse. It is taken from the “Doomsday Machine” album. Although a little old, we are sure that a lot of fans will enjoy this. Find out more about Arch Enemy on their web site.
Eternal Tears of Sorrow is a well known band and when talking about melodic death metal a lot of people know about them. We are faced with a lot of metal albums that sound the same and we were quite happy to notice that Before the Bleeding Sun did not. We are faced with thos grunty rasp vocals that reminds us of Finntroll and Ensiferum and elements that are quite similar between the tracks. On the other hand, there is that something that makes us keep listening and wondering what it is.
We can say that the symphonic element is the one that really makes Before the Bleeding Sun special. Most of the tracks were really special and enjoyable. We are sure that fans of Eternal Tears of Sorrow will love a lot of tracks from this album. On this material the band works a lot with the symphonic death metal elements. We are thus faced with 2 tempo speeds: middle tempo and fast tempo. The mixing between the two is done pretty well. Even the end track, Angelheart, Ravenheart is surprising. Few bands manage to have a good closure track and Before the Bleeding Sun has this track, which is almost 9 minutes long. (more…)
